Thanks Patty. I really enjoyed the video and am myself learning that my faith is in God alone. Being in a small church for the last 24 years we've gone through several leaders and each time I've had hope of how the leaders are going to help the church and me personally. But I finally realized it's got to be God is helping me and I am adjusting to help with what God is doing. Each time someone new comes in we have to adjust to the leadership styles and the struggles they have that they may not see and it's challenging to just follow. But it's not up to me to change anyone but myself and I am resolving that and that my strength comes from God.
That is so true. Every time we come up with solutions, they may solve one problem, but create others. We’re all broken. However, that keeps us aware of how much we need God. Thx for sharing.
Looking deeper into this topic after the video and what Todd shared, I have started to find rollercoaster patterns where I seek my validation from others rather than from God. Particularly in areas of self worth in comparison to where other men my age are in life/status/financial stability. Thank you for being open about this and showing us we need to dig deeper into the 'why's and how's' of validation.
I've definitely struggled with validating myself based on my self perceived identity as a veterinarian rather than a child of God. Through prayer and self reflection, I've gotten to the root issue of it---pride. Pride is such a tough idol to sus out. My current mechanism to deal with breaking down that idol in my life has been prayer prior to each day of work to refocus on the Lord and work to give him that glory.
Becky, it's so good to hear from you! I agree with you. It's pride, but I've also found a lot of fear that stems from my lupus diagnosis at 21. I'll write more about that this week.
However, I still think it's pretty cool that you're a vet. I love hearing stories from your mom about what you're doing. Thanks for commenting.
