Thank you, Patty, for sharing your journey with God, which is not unlike so many of us. We are His daughters and He is always listening. The examples you shared for helping our prayers will help our relationship with our Father to grow. Love you, Sister. I'm praying for you. 🥰🫂🙏
Thanks, Janet. I'm amazed at how we all struggle with similar issues but can still feel unprepared when the challenges hit. I've been writing out some of my ugliest thoughts and how I work through them, hoping it will help someone else.
I love all of these ideas! The sticky notes appeals to me. Ben and I used to ask for a prayer request from every member of our congregation in OKC. We would pray through them daily for 40 days. I got to the point where I had them memorized. It was so fun in fellowship to ask people how to things were going and to tell them that I was praying daily for them. Love you!
Simple ideas like that can help so much. That was from my friend, Kathleen Palmer, who writes Simple Sheology https://pkathleen2003.substack.com/. Thanks for commenting, Susan!
Thank you for sharing these thoughts on prayer. What a great idea to ask others what works for them! Bible study comes much more naturally to me than prayer, but one thing that helps is praying with others. We have a group of parents in our church who pray together every Wednesday morning over zoom, just to pray for our kids, whether they be toddlers or adults. It’s increasing my faith and training me to pray in different ways.
I love your story about your son praying with you when he was little. My grandson will do that with me sometimes, just crawl into my lap and join me in prayer. It truly is wonderful to hear the prayers of a child. That’s the heart I want!
